Better Than The BDR

Before we ruffle anyone's feathers, we LOVE the Arizona BDR! More importantly, we love Backcountry Discovery Routes, their mission, and their vision for our sport. If it wasn't for them, adventure riding wouldn't be growing nearly as fast. We thank you BDR with our support and our wallets every year.

So how can we possibly Better the AZDBR? There's so much to see that when building a BDR, you can't possibly fit it ALL in. Our tour includes additional historic sites, little known loops, more scenic camping sites, and little known meal stops that make an already great route, even BETTER!

There are three MAJOR benefits to hiring AZMAT (that's us) as a guide for your BDR travels:

  • Safety - What if I encounter a flat tire and struggle to get it off the rim? Or, heaven forbid, I tip over and find myself stuck under my bike? My riding buddies always flake out last minute and attempting the expert lines solo isn't the smartest decision. Having a guide solves all of these.
  • Simplicity - My favorite part of hiring a guide is this - it's easier! Each morning just follow their route without having to deal with navigation, time management or route adjustments on the trail. Plus, I know my guide is carrying a serious first aid kit, tools and the skills to deal with most problems/repairs that pop up. I just hold the flashlight LOL.
  • Flexibility - I don't want to be pushed faster than I want to go. And I'd like a guide for the first half to make sure i'm comfortable on my bike and moto-camping, but think i'll be ok after that. Do I really need a guide the whole week?

With AZMAT, you can book us for only a couple days or the whole week. We can take it easy and help build your confidence, or ride the whole BDR at pace in 4 days. We're very versatile and want you to experience the BDR in a way that makes it fun for you; Fast or slow, camping or hotels, stopping for all the pictures or just chatting on comms while we enjoy the view...

Our BDR Guide service is straightforward. We provide a professional guide who has traversed the Arizona BDR multiple times and knows the terrain well. We're here to assist you, enhance your safety, and offer valuable information along the way, including stops, sights, and referrals for accommodations and meals.

We request a minimum of 30 days notice regarding your planned dates so that we can accommodate your ride. Two day minimum for guide services. Nightly accommodations include either hotels or camping depending on the group plan. Daily rate is based on number of riders being guided. Two guides are provided for  groups 4 and over at no additional cost.
